Portfolio

Here are some samples of my work.  Don't see what you are looking for? Just ask.  I have many more samples, from a variety of industries, available on request. I follow both ADDIE and Gagne's Nine Events as my Instructional Models. Your project starts with an Analysis of the learner and their environment followed by a High Level Design Document and Content Map.  Once you approve that, I'll create Storyboards (in Word or PPT) then a prototype based on your branding. I develop all the courses myself using Storyline, Rise and/or Camtasia and create all the visuals. Most of my clients even use me for their narration. After multiple iterations you'll approve the final project and I'll follow that up with a more thorough QA then Usability Testing.  Years of Project Management have made it easy for me to create your Project Plan, run meetings and send timely status reports to be sure projects run smoothly.

Elearning with Video and AI

Tool: Storyline 360

About: In this e-learning course, I wanted to make use of the efficiencies of AI by using an AI voice narration, Chat GPC to help write the Design Document, and Google Bard to assist with storyboard editing. This process reduced design and development time, allowing me to complete six modules in six weeks.

Software Training with Simulation

Tool: Storyline 360

About:  I designed, scripted and developed this course to help store owners use a new software product. I decided to make it mostly simulation to keep learners engaged and have them practice on each screen. I wanted them to feel like they were actually using the software, but in a safe environment. I also narrated the video and ensured ADA compliance.

Software Training in Rise

Tool: Articulate Rise 360

About: Rise is a tool I recommend when my client has a limited timeline and/or wants to develop in a very Agile way. If you want interactivity and student score/completion reports sent to an LMS, but you don't need the bells and whistles of Storyline, take a look at this lesson from a 12 Lesson course I am currently developing. This Lesson introduces sales people to the new software tools and new process they'll be using.  We are currently developing the rest of the Lessons to incorporate Storyline blocks containing software simulations and a Try It mode.

Certification for a Nonprofit

Tool: Storyline 360

About: This is one of seven Modules in an eLearning course I designed and developed to teach volunteer homebuilders the rules to follow when on a jobsite. This allowed hundreds of people to keep up with their skills during the pandemic when they could not attend live training.  It has since ended up being a huge revenue source for the nonprofit.

FERPA Awareness Video for a University

Tool: Camtasia

About: This video demonstrates using scenarios to show how, even boring regulations, can be taught in a more interesting way. For this video I shot images of faculty and students to create real world scenarios where they could learn how the FERPA laws may affect them. I designed and developed this three-part video series in Camtasia as no interactivity was needed.

Certification Training in the Autocare Industry

Tool: Storyline 360

About:  This project required that I learn extremely complex technical information and repackage it in an easy-to-comprehend curriculum and certification course. I did the tutorials in Camtasia then integrated them into Storyline to provide crystal clear screencasts. This content made my brain hurt but I was so excited to be able to synthesize really techy material into a format that beginners could understand.

Help Screen Microvideo

Tool: Camtasia

About: This simple software tutorial is available from a "Show Me" button in the client's software. It is one of about 30 I created for "Just in Time" performance support  which is available at the moment of need and significantly reduced calls to the Help Desk.

Compliance Training for a Hotel

Tool: Storyline 360

About: My client asked me to convert days of instructor-led compliance/onboarding training into eLearning. We ended up with three 45-minute courses, saving them countless hours of repeating the same topics over and over for each group of new hires. Legally, we had to have the students go through all the content, but I added animation, relevant images and knowledge checks to keep it from being boring. Our team also implemented a Learning Management System (Talent LMS) to track the course participant completion and a Project Management Tool (Smartsheet) to assist in managing future projects. If you need an LMS let me know.

Software Training with Simulations

Tool: Storyline 360 and Camtasia

About: This corporate eLearning is made up of tutorials and uses software simulations to let the learners test their abilities. The "show me" screencasts were done in Camtasia because it has better features for software capture. The "Try it" practice exercises were created in Storyline 360. The needs analysis showed that end users screens would be viewing the course on IPads and monitors with standard screen resolution so I developed to meet those specs.

Virtual Instructor-Led Training

Tool: GotoWebinar/PowerPoint

About: Virtual Instructor-Led training/webinars. I developed all the slides and delivered this webinar.  I've created and delivered about 200 different webinars over the past ten years-most of them teaching Instructional design or tools. I like visually appealing slides with very few bullet points and I use polls and questions to keep things interesting. I think having the speaker on video, at least some of the time, adds a more personal touch. I'm an expert in using GotoWebinar and act as a producer/tech assistant to some of my clients who prefer to just show up and present.

Job Aid/Technical Writing Sample

Tool: PowerPoint

About: This QuickStart Guide was created as a laminated card to be made available for new users of the Kofax Machine. Extensive usability testing was done to be sure it covered everything needed (but no more) as all instructions had to fit in the landscape version of an 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
